Another Guitar Virtuoso

There has been some discussion lately here at the blog about virtuoso electric guitarists — in particular the proponents of the Fender sound. I got to thinking of Eric Johnson, whose song “The Cliffs Of Dover” is a classic. It’s abstract jazzy rock, reminding me of John McLaughlin:

And then there is this more recent version of the tune by a gifted young girl. She’s playing a Gibson Les Paul and her tone is flawless; it sounds like an over-driven fingerboard hopped-up humbucker pick-up:
